Halo Community: Featured Project – Spartan Firefight

The Halo Community is filled with a never ending amount of wonderful people and creations. The Featured Artist section of Halo Respawn focuses solely on art, the Featured Content Creator section focuses solely on an individual and now, there’s the Featured Project section of Halo Respawn. The Featured Project section focuses on all times of mods, music and more.

The Halo Community Featured Project section of Halo Respawn is a place for projects of any size and scale to be highlighted. Whether it’s a solo creator making a mod, or an entire team working towards something big, each Halo Community Featured Project will help answer some questions and shed some light as to where the project started and where it is going.

In this featured project, we’ll explore Spartan Firefight. Spartan Firefight is being developed by Dobermann Studios, and is the first full game project to be featured on Halo Respawn (excluding mods). I won’t go too much into detail about the game, as I’ll let William from Dobermann Studios talk about the project. If you’re interested in what type of game Spartan Firefight is, the answers below will hopefully tell you all you need to know.

Q1. Regarding Dobermann Studios, does the studio focus on releasing only Halo themed games?

Well, I created a fangame in 2005 based on Halo (Halo Zero) and it seems that Halo is haunting me since. Each time I start a new project it ends in a sort of Halo themed game. But no, i’m not focused on Halo games and i hope i’ll end by creating my own IP (i say I because i’m the only official member of Dobermann Studios).

Q2. What made the team decide that Spartan Firefight was the next game they wanted to make?

After porting Spartan Runner to Android and iOS (the game was firstly released on Windows Phone), I was thinking that I was done with Halo themed games. But I’ve got so many comments asking me to make a game where we can freely move the Spartan that i started to think about what I could do. Spartan Firefight was on the go.

Q3. Could you give me some more detail on the gameplay and general feel of Spartan Firefight?

Spartan Firefight is a short-sessions mobile game, where you fight waves of enemies in the standard modes, you can also fight against some Spartans controlled by the AI of the game. In order to get stronger, you need to upgrade your weapons in the armory.

There is also several customization items to unlock to create your own Spartan. There is also a world leaderboard to compete against the other players, and a new game mode called Versus, allowing you to challenge your friends by creating a custom game with an objective to beat.

Q4. Are there other Halo themed projects in the works at the moment, or is Spartan Firefight the main priority?

Spartan Firefight is the only one project i’m working on actually, i’m still improving the game with the players feedbacks and adding new content everytime. I don’t have any other Halo themed project in mind for the moment.

Q5. How often can players expect new updates and features for Spartan Firefight?

Spartan Firefight get so many updates per month! Sometimes it’s just bugfixes or adjustments, but most of the time it comes with major updates like the last update that added new game modes and content. The game is always evolving!

Q6. For those wanting to help out on the project, will there be any positions on the team available now or in the future?

As Dobermann Studios is a One-team Studio, help is always appreciated, but i’m mostly helped by my friends because i can’t hire anyone, i’m still a really small studio with a low budget. But what i would love is to teamup with a talented spriter someday.

Q7. Where can people find out more about the game? Do you have any pages and socials? App Store Links?

You can follow my work on Facebook (DobermannStudios), Twitter (@Dob_Studios] and even Discord (http://discordapp.com/invite/Rgzzrdp), i also have a website, but it needs to be remade: http://dobermannstudios.com. For the App Store links, it’s better to reach my website, all the links are there.

It’s truly incredible to learn that William runs the studio on his own. He truly is a mastermind when it comes to creating epic games. Thank you for sharing information about your game and studio with the team at Halo Respawn.
